Apple is playing tricks again. First, the iPhone maker released just enough information about the new iPhones for renders to hit the streets– with three cameras on the back. Three. Ugly times three. I get it. Apple would prefer to leak certain pieces of information about new products so we get used to the changes. And we get used to ugly camera bumps. Again.
What’s next? iPhone Pro. Apple has a problem with the perception is reality rule, and the perception is that iPhones are too expensive, so the company needs to adjust the iPhone’s lineup to resemble other Apple products.
Think MacBook Air. Think MacBook Pro. See where this is going? iPad. iPad Air. iPad Pro. It doesn’t take much of a leak to get us to think about the next iPhone. iPhone X-whatever. iPhone X Pro– the most expensive model.
iPhone Pro. That has a good ring to it and may help Apple differentiate segments of the iPhone line. Let’s change iPhone SE to iPhone Air. See, that has a good ring to it, too.
How far will this professional monicker go?
How about Watch Pro?
I’m game. What would make Watch Pro stand out from the rest of the Watch line? Well, what differentiates the models now? Case materials, right? And LTE. Watch Pro would allow Apple to segregate specific features and functions from the mainstream Watch models.
A different Watch case and band would be a price differentiator, but so would LTE and ECG (electrocardiogram). More features. More money.
iPhone Pro makes as much sense as MacBook Pro and iMac Pro and iPad Pro. Apple could push the professional monicker further with AirPods Pro, too, but I think Apple Music Pro or Apple TV Pro or Apple Card Pro starts to make the whole professional component become weary.
iPhone Pro gets a thumbs up. Thanks for the leak, Apple.
