Jeffrey Toobin on Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s slap down of new Justice Neil Gorsuch:
Questioning Paul Smith, the lawyer challenging Wisconsin’s contorted district lines, Gorsuch made another pedantic gesture. The argument had gone on for nearly an hour when Gorsuch began a question as follows: “Maybe we can just for a second talk about the arcane matter of the Constitution.”
Ouch. Burn from the bench. Gorsuch then lectured his fellow supremes on the constitution and wondered “Where exactly do we get authority to revise state legislative lines?”
Where did ‘one person, one vote’ come from?
Toobin’s article is a worthy read if you don’t know about gerrymandering and the damage it has caused to the populace.
