Barbara Marie Brannan on Mac360 writing about Amazon’s new gadget.
Echo Show is Amazon’s Echo with Alexa and a screen. A murky, fuzzy, little screen set inside a little device, priced about $150 less than a new iPad. Echo Show is no PC despite voice recognition, despite a color display, despite Wi-Fi, and despite a handful of cute parlor tricks for the gee whiz crowd. Move along. There’s nothing to see here.
What do you get with Echo Show?
$229 gets you a white or black Echo Show so you can watch Amazon video, YouTube, listen to music, view security cameras, look at photos and weather forecasts and do it all– hands free. Send a $229 Echo Show to mom or dad or your grandmother or grandfather and they can talk to you face-to-face FaceTime-like or Skype-like, and all you or they need to do is tell Alexa who to call.
I do all that with an iPad and it’s fully mobile. How many of any of its own gadgets has Amazon sold? Amazon? Amazon?
