Apple just had blowout financials with record iPhone sales, record Mac sales, blah blah. Tom Warren thinks Microsoft is cutting into the Mac’s domination at the high end of the PC market.
Microsoft claimed last month that “more people are switching from Macs to Surface than ever before,” following what the company described as “the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro.” As Microsoft continues to refuse to provide sales or shipment numbers, it’s impossible to fully quantify how well the company’s Surface line is actually doing against Apple’s range of Macs.
Uh, really? Microsoft’s recent financials had the Surface line’s sales going down at a time when the Mac’s sales– with only one new product in the line– going up. Across the board, PC sales are going down, and, again, Mac sales are going up.
Everything is perspective. Microsoft won’t announce Surface sales unit numbers for a reason. By comparison, they’re pathetic.
