Did the Russians undermine the U.S. election in 2016? Yes, says the U.S. intelligence community. Unanimously. So, where’s the beef (proof)? Michael Hayden, former head of the CIA and the NSA:
When you’ve got the community coming together and giving ‘high confidence’ judgments to these things … I certainly have confidence that that’s a true story that was put out there, even though I haven’t been able to see the fine print
In other words, no visible proof. It’s all ‘classified.’ Trump’s skepticism is palpable.
The criticism of the intelligence community’s judgments on this issue has been that the community is incompetent and politicized and prejudiced and that’s simply not right
I don’t see how this ends well. Proof is important to sway public opinion, but proof is in short supply these days.
You know, if you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way … because I’ll tell you what: no computer is safe
But couriers are perfectly safe?
I know a lot about hacking… and hacking is a very hard thing to prove, so it could be somebody else… (I know) things that other people don’t know. And so, they cannot be sure of the situation.
Even truth isn’t safe from hacking.
