Colleague Barbara Marie Brannan busts the myth that premium Android smartphones are cheaper than iPhones.
The myth is basic. Good Android phones are cheaper than Apple’s iPhone 7; the latest and greatest and most expensive iPhone ever. Funny things happen when you start to examine reality. Remember my husband? He salivated over the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 until he saw the price tag. And Apple’s brand new iPhone 7 was priced less.
Exploding batteries included.
Guess what? This Android device from Google is priced the same as an iPhone 7. The larger Pixel XL is priced the same as an iPhone 7 Plus. It’s bad enough that Google copied the iPhone’s original OS look and feel with Android, now the Clone Maker Machine™ has copied Apple’s iconic iPhone design. But did Google stop there? Nope. Now Google is pricing their products the same as Apple.
Now, let’s talk price vs. cost. Resale value gets deducted from the price.
Next year at about this time, browse over to Gazelle.com, and price an iPhone 7. Then price a Google Pixel and a Samsung whatever. Then remember that they were all priced about the same when new.
Times are changing.
