On Sunday night, Twitter launched Twttr, a two-tiered service that allows basic members to tweet using only consonants. Advanced users get the pleasure of posting tweets that contain vowels. One catch? The second option will set Twitter users back $5/mo.
We’re doing this because we believe that by eliminating vowels, we’ll encourage a more efficient and ‘dense’ form of communication. We also see an opportunity to diversify our revenue stream.
