Greg Satell goes where no man has gone before, to a galaxy of thought, far, far, away. From Forbes:
Siri could signal the beginning of the end for Apple. When you ask Siri for something, it inevitably sends you to Google.
Does not. Satell should try using Siri before writing about how it will kill Apple.
Siri itself is not truly an Apple product. Much of the critical technology is provided by Nuance Communications.
Research is a good thing. Apple bought Siri, and partnered with Nuance for the voice recognition.
Apple, for its part, doesn’t seem to have any significant artificial intelligence platform beyond the Siri interface and no big data effort to speak of. If they did, we would know about it.
Sure, because Apple tells the world everything that’s going on in Cupertino.
It’s tough to see how Apple will compete 3-5 years from now when Big Data and artificial intelligence become an important part of the consumer experience.
It’s even more difficult to predict anything that will be substantial in five years.
How much money does Apple have in the bank? About $150-billion. What is Apple working on in secret? Satell doesn’t know.
Sigh. Does anyone believe Siri will kill Apple?
