Let me be among many who wish this to be true. Apple tried to kill Adobe’s Flash, and Flash is dying, albeit slowly. Now it’s Java’s turn. Galen Gruman in InfoWorld:
Once again, flaws in Java are creating big holes that hackers exploit to victimize users and, even worse, sabotage or spy on many of the computers that run key business processes at utilities, banks, hospitals, and government agencies. Enough already. Wake up and smell the coffee: Client-side Java needs to go, and fast.
No Java on most mobile devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Windows RT. Who suffers if Java is killed on the Mac?
