You probably have two things that have been bothering you. First, how do you print from your iPhone or iPad. And, second, how can you give more money to printer manufacturers. Here’s my Mac app of choice to do both.
Printer Sharing For Handheld Devices
Frankly, I don’t have much need to print from my iPhone or my iPad. At least, I didn’t until it became cumbersome to transfer a few documents from my phone to a friend so they could be printed.
Email is not document management.
Printopia is the Mac app that lets Mac users share Mac printers with iPhones and iPads. Did I fail to mention that you can print over Wi-Fi using printers attached to the Mac?
Here’s what the setup looks like. It’s too easy.
Turn it on. Turn it off. Select the printers you want to use. Then, in your printer-enabled app on the iPhone or iPad, select the printer you want, and press the Print button. Done.
Not Just Printers, Ink, Or Trees
Notice the two extra icons in the Printopia printer setup above? They’re not printers. Documents from your iPad or iPhone can also be sent, not printed, to either Dropbox or Evernote.
There’s also one more option. This one saves wear and tear on your prized printers, saves ink, and saves trees.
Send to Mac.
Instead of printing, simply send your iPhone or iPad file directly to your Mac for safekeeping. There’s no need to try to figure out how to send it via email. Printopia is faster and easier.
Printopia is sweet. Very Apple-like. Try it first. Like it immediately. There’s not a better solution.
