Ed Sutherland quotes BlackBerry maker RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie on the non-shipping Playbook tablet:
The tablet market will move away from “a proprietary SDK and unnecessary apps”
That’s what you say when your non-shipping product doesn’t have any apps. He also said,
You don’t need an app for the web.
Which is what you say when all your non-shipping product will have when it ships is a web browser and email. Anything else?
RIM is “just well ahead on the PlayBook, well ahead internationally, and extending very very well”
I have no idea what that means.
When your product doesn’t have apps to compete against the product that has apps, then apps are overrated, right?
