How many Verizon iPhones will Apple sell next year? Philip Elmer-DeWitt finds the official estimates for 2011 are surprisingly low. Merrill Lynch’s Scott Craig:
We expect a Verizon iPhone to be introduced in early C2011 and we are now baking Verizon into our estimates. We expect a base case of at least 10 million units at Verizon for [calendar] 2011, although we only added 6 and 8 million units to 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Stifel Nicolaus’ Doug Reid says 800,000 iPhones will be sold by Verizon in 2011. Elmer-DeWitt:
That’s it? 800,000 measly iPhones?
For reasons known only to themselves, analysts who have been breathlessly anticipating a Verizon iPhone are now busy lowering expectations.
Daring Fireball’s John Gruber:
That’s crazy. If Verizon gets the iPhone next year, they’ll sell a million on the first day.
I’ll be in line.
