How many Apple products do you own? Mac, iPhone, iPod, iPad? If the Mac notebook models are desktop equivalents, then the MacBook Air is the Mac for the road. Steve Jack in MacDailyNews:
I’m about to pull the trigger on an 11-inch MacBook Air max’ed out with 1.6 GHz Core 2 Duo/128GB/4GB RAM for $1399.
That computer would be only for road use: browser, pixelmator, ftp client, pages, numbers, etc. For watching movies / tv shows I’ll use my iPad and for listening to music, I’ll use my iPhone 4.
Then I would get desktop Mac for my main computer. Since a pretty much maxed out 17-inch MacBook Pro (my former one-computer solution) would cost about $3799, I’d have up to $2400 to spend on an iMac or even a nice refurbed Mac Pro and still spend the same amount. I’d get more power on the desktop and a much, much easier solution to deal with while on the road.
I’m one of many Mac users with a similar thought. iMac or MacBook Pro for the desktop, iPhone in pocket, MacBook Air to go. Or, iPad. Either way, Apple gets more sales.
