About Kate MacKenzie
I’m Kate MacKenzie and I live in Brooklyn, New York. I’m a Mac user.
Does that sound like the beginning of a 12 Step Program of some sort? It’s not. Maybe it should be.
If you’re a Mac user, then you understand, right?
The life of a New Yorker is a busy life, and I’m no exception. There’s only 24 hours a day, and seven days in a week. That’s just not enough time to do all the things I love about life.
There’s work and family. There’s friends and travel. There’s neighbors I’ve known for many years, and there’s people I just met that I want to know better.
A Little History
I grew up in Brooklyn and went to school here. I work in Manhattan and truly love the busy life of a New Yorker. Busy is my nature. My father is from Scotland and my mother is from Puerto Rico.
I come from a family of 12, so guess what kind of household that was? Noisy and opinionated and spread between six constantly talking sisters and six rapidly moving brothers.
My Career
To fund my lust for life I work as a training program developer for a company in New York. That means I get involved in all things digital for training-- photography, movies, music, PowerPoint and Keynote, and writing.
I’m often called upon to create training programs for businesses, employees, new products, news services, and that requires me to be a quick study. You can’t teach what you don’t know.
It also means that I get involved in many different activities with a variety of companies.
My Life
When not working, I write poetry, short stories, and I love to travel, which is great for my first love, photography. My job involves a lot of travel, often to London, so I visit family in Scotland three or four times a year.
I don’t have a MySpace page or FaceBook site, and I’ve only tried Twitter. My dog’s name is Pooch and my fiance’s name is Wil.
Sometimes I get the names mixed up.
My Mac Life
My Mac experience includes over 15 years of using about a dozen different Macs. My current Mac life includes a 24-inch iMac which I use at work, and a 15-inch MacBook Pro which I take everywhere. I lust for a MacBook Air. I live on my iPhone.
Among other responsibilities, I troubleshoot Macs, and in the office I’m known as the iLife vixen and the Microsoft Office queen.
