Beat Boring: Change A Mac’s Login Screen

Whether I’m on the road or in the office, one thing is always certain– my Mac is password protected. That’s both good and bad. It’s good, because that makes it more difficult for prying eyes to view what’s on my Mac. That boring login screen on my Mac gets visited a dozen times a day. Here’s how to fix boring for free.

Customized Mac Login Screen

Wouldn’t it be cool to create your own login screen? That’s what Loginox does. It’s a Mac app that customizes the login by removing the default Mac image (boring) and changing the background image to whatever you want.

Customized Login Screen

All you need to do is drag any .jpg or .png image and drop it onto the Loginox window. Click the Set New Login Image button and you’re good to go.

There’s more.

Your Mac’s login logo can also be changed just as easily. For this, you’ll need a .jpg, .tiff, .png, or even a .psd (Photoshop) image. Click the Login Logo button at the top and repeat the drag and drop and click procedure.

For Mac OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard, you’ll need images of a specific size and aspect ration. For Lion, it all gets adjusted automatically. Mac customization for free.
