iPad: The college bookstore killer

John Patrick Pullen in Fortune:

If students embrace textbooks on the iPad, college bookstores may lose their shirts.

Why? Collectively, universities make billions of dollars selling books to students. The iPad is the ultimate book store. Publishers, however, are already gearing up to provide text books online.

Why bother to go to the college bookstore when there’s a bookstore already in the iPad, and it’s filled with more books and lower prices?
