Apple and Google were locked in a bidding war for AdMob. Google won. Or, did it. San Jose Business Journal says the Federal Trade Commission may block the $750-million purchase:
The FTC last month said it was seeking sworn declarations from Google’s competitors and advertisers, a sign taken to mean that it was lining up opposition to the sale. The agency is reportedly concerned that such a sale would reduce competition in the market for advertising on mobile phones… The ability to place ads on the iPhone is key to AdMob’s revenue stream.
Uh oh.
Would Apple step in to buy AdMob?
