Google asks, What is a browser?

Shades of Jaywalking. This is ancient but revealing. Google did man-on-the-street type interviews and asked a simple question, “What is a browser?” The conclusion?

Less than 8% of people who were interviewed on this day knew what a browser was.

The interviewer identified himself as a Google employee. Interesting, too, are the comments.

Most people don’t know what an internet connected handheld PIM is – they have a Blackberry that does email and calendars. They don’t know what a portable player of compressed music files is – they have an iPod. The best sellers of our time are those that simplified the technology into an easy-to-use, easy-to-understand proposition!
