Apple sells 23 MacBooks a minute (or not)

Mac sales are exploding. The collateral damage of exploding Mac sales has caused the calculators at 9to5Mac.com to malfunction.

Apple’s selling around 23 MacBooks each minute worldwide, fresh data from its Taiwan-based supply chain suggests.

The data? An estimate that Apple sold about 7-million Mac notebooks in 2009. Do the math. 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 365 days a year equals 525,600 minutes in a year. Divide 7-million Mac notebooks by 525,600 minutes, and you get 13.32 Mac notebooks sold per minute. Approximately.

Apple has been selling just over 1-million Macs per month (notebooks, desktops). 1-million computers divided by the 43,200 minutes in a 30-day month is 23.15 Macs per minute. Approximately. Macs. Not MacBooks.
