The logic of putting a Microsoft exec in charge of US internet security

Leave it to a former Microsoft security chief to take the government job nobody wanted. From Wired’s Threat Level:

Howard Schmidt,  a former Microsoft security executive and a one-time cybersecurity adviser to President George W. Bush, has been appointed to the position of cybersecurity coordinator

The new czar joins former Microsoft chief trustworthy-infrastructure strategist, Phillip Reitlinger who works in the Department of Homeland Security. Who better to know the problems of security than former Microsoft executives?
