It’s official. Snow Leopard is available Friday, August 28th. Will you upgrade? What’s new? According to Apple, Snow Leopard is “refined, not reinvented.”
When it came to designing Snow Leopard, Apple engineers had a single goal: to make a great thing even better. They searched for areas to refine, further simplify, and speed up—from little things like ejecting external drives to big things like installing the OS. In many cases, they elevated great to amazing.
The amazing part remains to be seen. My experience with Snow Leopard (thanks, Wil) shows it to be faster, smoother, but without many new bells and whistles. True performance benefits may not show up until a year from now as developers upgrade their Mac software to take advantage of the update.
