Apple demands Microsoft stop misleading advertising

Remember those Microsoft Laptop Hunter television commercials that we found so funny because they were full of lies and misrepresentations and idiocy; typical Microsoft? Apparently, they’re having an effect. First, they make Microsoft employees feel good about themselves. Second, they’re so good that Apple has to point out those lies and misrepresentations—to Microsoft. Are they working? Kevin Turner, Microsoft’s COO:

And you know why I know they’re working? Because two weeks ago we got a call from the Apple legal department saying, hey—this is a true story—saying, “Hey, you need to stop running those ads, we lowered our prices.” They took like $100 off or something. It was the greatest single phone call in the history that I’ve ever taken in business.

Turner also said he “did cartwheels down the hallway.” I’m betting that’s a lie, too.
