Cooking is one my passions in life and I get my Mac involved by using YummySoup! The Mac has only a few recipe management applications and YummySoup! is one of the best. Why? Four words: Organizing, sharing, cooking, and shopping. Oh, and there’s a handy Wine & Spirits manager, full screen view for cooking, and user recipes available in an online library. What’s so yummy?
Fun Cooking
It may be hard to imagine for some chefs that you can involve your computer in the cooking process, but that’s what YummySoup! does best. After all, your Mac is fun. So is cooking with YummySoup!

Organizing
YummySoup! is about as intuitive and basic as you can get. The layout is familiar with your library in the left column, library details in the upper right column, recipes details below that (click any image for a pop up, close up view).
Looks inviting, no? It comes with plenty of recipes to get started and using YummySoup to cook is also a fun experience. Fun?

Notice how the recipes also show Cooking Time, User Rating, and Degree of Difficulty, in addition to the Cooking Time.
Sharing
YummySoup takes recipe sharing to multiple levels. Share complete recipes, including photos, detailed ingredients, and step-by-step directions—via email or online or print out.
Send rich formatted emails with pictures. These emails look exactly like prints. If your recipient also has a copy of YummySoup!, then they can add your creation to their library with the included export file, sent with every email.
Shopping
No recipe management system is worth anything unless you can create shopping lists on the fly. YummySoup! delivers. Click the Shopping Cart icon.
The Shopping List can be consolidated into one list, emailed or printed.
Cooking
Now the fun begins. YummySoup! makes it easy to use a Mac in the kitchen, or nearby. Full screen mode saves the day.
Even edit recipes on the fly using the built-in editor, then share your creations with others.
The navigational structure of YummySoup! is fantastic. Groups of recipes can have subgroups which makes finding the right meal easy. Browsing any one group, will show you not only the recipes belonging to that group, but all the recipes belonging to all subgroups.
Preferences
YummySoup is flexible. Rely totally on the recipes from the Online Library, or modify the details to fit your cooking style.
AutoFill is built in, but so are details in Preferences. Add Measurements, Ingredients and Methods to the Ingredients AutoFill. Add Origins, Times, Ethnicities in the Recipe Info AutoFill.
I’ve been using YummySoup! for awhile and I admit to enjoying the process of cooking as much as the event of eating what I cook. Not bad for $20, but only $15 in celebration of Mother’s Day.
